Heavy to Excessive Rainfall in the Mid-Atlantic; Critical Fire Weather in the Northern Plains and Southwest U.S.

A slow-moving storm system will continue to produce widespread heavy showers and thunderstorms which may bring excessive rainfall and flooding across the Mid-Atlantic region today and tonight. Hot, dry and breezy conditions will continue to support critical fire weather in the northern Plains and Upper Midwest today. Unseasonably hot weather is expected during the middle of this week. Some locations may break their daily records by as much as 5 to 7 degrees, particularly on Wednesday. Remember to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade or A/C!
Above normal temperatures will continue through the end of the week with afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s. Storm chances will increase by this weekend with some severe weather possible.
